Pump stations can also be built from precast concrete rings or a site-built concrete chamber. These are often considered for larger, deeper or more bespoke applications, but they need careful benching, sealing, pipe entries, cover slabs, access, lifting arrangements and internal corrosion considerations.
High water table and buoyancy
In high groundwater, a pump station chamber can be subject to buoyancy forces. The design may need a concrete surround, anti-floatation base, suitable backfill, correct dewatering during installation and careful control of pipe entries.
